Auburn, WA ­ USC junior Becky Lucidi won the long drive contest and Ohio State claimed the team putting championships at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Washington National Golf Club. The events, sponsored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, started a week of activities at the national championships.

Lucidi's drive of 270 on Washington National's par-5 number-one hole was eight yards better than Auburn's Diana Ramage drive of 262 yards. Ramage's teammate, Danielle Downey was third at 261 yards.

A trio of players tied for the putting championship. Washington's Kelli Kamimura, Ohio State's Natalie Aber and Mollie Fankhauser all shot a score of 10 on the six-hole course. The Buckeyes putted 42 as a team to better the host Huskies by one stroke UCLA was third at 46.
