Women's Golf 21st After First Round Of NCAA Championships

Auburn, Wash. - The No. 15 USC women's golf team shot 307 on Tuesday to stand in 21st after the first round of the 2002 NCAA Women's Golf Championships held on Washington National Golf Course.

The Women of Troy are 22 strokes behind leader Arizona (285). Duke and Georgia are tied for 2nd (294), while Auburn and California are tied for fourth (298).

Junior Mikaela Parmlid leads USC, shooting a 73 to tie for 19th. Virada Nirapathpongporn of Duke is first overall after firing a 68.

USC's three other players--juniors Becky Lucidi and Yon Yim and sophomore Anna Rawson--are all tied for 84th with a score of 78.

The second round gets underway on Wednesday off the first and 10th tees at 8 a.m.
