    Park Maintains Lead At NCAA West Regional; No. 1 USC 3rd After Second Round

    Freshman Annie Park maintained her individual lead while No. 1 USC is just two strokes out of first after the second round of the 2013 NCAA Championships West Regional at the Stanford (Calif.) G.C. on Friday (May 10).

    USC, coming off a win at the Pac-12 Championships for its school-record tying fifth victory of the season, is third at a combined 11-over 579 (290-289). Troy is two back of both Purdue and Vanderbilt (577). South Carolina is fourth (581) and is followed in the top 8 by Stanford (585), Baylor (586), Oregon (589) and Georgia (595).

    NCAA East, Central and West Regionals, each made up of 24 teams, began today to determine the NCAA Championship final field. The top eight teams plus two individuals from each field will advance to the championship round, scheduled for May 21-24 at the University of Georgia C.C. in Athens, Ga. The Trojans have won an NCAA-best eight regional titles,

    A two-time winner already this season, Park followed her first-round 67 with an even 71 and is at 4-under 138 (67-71). She had a pair of birdies against a pair of bogeys during another solid round. Oregon's Cassy Isagawa (139) is a stroke back while Purdue's Paula Reto is two back at 138.

    Freshman Kyung Kim turned in USC's second-best round of the day and is now tied for 31st at 5-over 147 (75-72). She had four birdies on the day and was 1-under on her front 9.

    Junior Sophia Popov is tied for 24th at 4-over 146 (73-73), her second round featuring three birdies.

    Junior Rachel Morris is tied for 34th at 6-over 148 (75-73) while sophomore Doris Chen is tied for 46th at 8-over 150 (75-75). Morris had an eagle on the par 5 12th hole and one birdie while Chen had one birdie on the day.
