Seniors Lisa McCloskey and Inah Park tied for second and seventh, respectively, leading No. 3 USC, trying to defend its 2011 conference crown, to a tie for third place during a blustery first day of the Pac-12 Championships at the Palouse Ridge G.C. in Pullman, Wash., on Friday (April 27).

On a day when only one of 55 players finished below par, the Trojans combined for an 18-over 306, seven back of first-place Arizona State (299). UCLA is second (304) while California is tied with Troy for third.

McCloskey, who in her last event posted a second place for her best result as a Trojan, is tied for second at 2-over 74. She only had one birdie, but kept her bogeys to a relative minimum. She is three back of first-place Giulia Molinaro of ASU (71).

Park, who also turned in a career effort in her previous event, is tied for seventh at 4-over 76. She had one birdie on the day.

Freshman Doris Chen, who had two birdies today, is tied for 16th at 5-over 77, sophomore Sophia Popov is tied for 33rd at 7-over 79 and sophomore Rachel Morris is tied for 39th at 8-over 80.
