Sophomores Gabriella Then and Karen Chung tied for second and sixth, respectively, leading the No. 3 USC women's golf team Saturday (March 7) as the Trojans finished the second round in third place at the Darius Rucker Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Trojans, who held the first-round lead, fell back with a 12-over second round and sit third a combined 13-over 581 (285-296). Duke took over first at 8-over 576 while LSU is second at 9-over 577.
Then continued as USC's top golfer in the event and is tied for second at 1-under 141 (69-72) while Chung is tied for sixth at 3-over 145 (70-75). Then was 2-over on the front 9 but birdied to 10 to get to 1-over, which is where she finished. Chung was 4-over on the front 9 and even on the back.
Junior Kyung Kim is tied for 29th at 7-over 149 (72-77), freshman Amy Lee, who made three straight back-9 birdies and had four on the day, is tied for 59th at 12-over 154 (82-72) and junior Annie Park is tied for 72nd at 15-over 157 (74-83).
Final round play concludes Sunday. USC tees off in the final pairing, first player off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
