    No. 1 USC Opens Sixth At Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

    Junior Sophia Popov fired a 2-under 70 while freshman Annie Park carded a 1-under 71 to lead the top-ranked USC women's golf team on the first day of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans on Sunday (Feb. 24).

    USC is a combined 1-under 287 in sixth, five back of host Tulane (282) and four behind Duke and UCLA, tied for second at 283.

    Popov turned in a four-birdie effort, finishing the final eight holes at 2-under to tie for seventh and is three strokes off the lead. Park got off to a slow start, opening at 3-over through nine holes, but finished the final nine at 4-under and is tied for 15th.

    Freshman Kyung Kim and junior Rachel Morris are tied for 31st at 1-over 73 while freshman Kim Santiago is tied for 89th at 12-over 84.

    Play continues Monday and Tuesday.
