Sophomore Gabriella Then fired a 36-hole 6-under 138 to lead the No. 2 USC women's golf team into second place after the opening two rounds of the UCI Invitational on Monday (Feb. 23) at the Santa Ana C.C.
The Trojans combined for a +1 over 577 (287-290), 11 back of first place Washington. Texas A&M is third, one behind of USC.
Then, seeking her first collegiate win, opened with a 2-under 70 before following with a 4-under 68, her career best round as a Trojan. She had four birdies in her first round, going 1-under on both 9s. She had five birdies in the second round and was 3-under on her back 9.
Freshman Amy Lee, after a strong freshman debut at the Northrop Grumman with a third-place finish, continued her solid play with a tie for 12th at even 144 (71-73).
Junior Kim Santiago, playing individually, is tied for 43rd at 8-over 152 (74-78).
USC will begin its final round Tuesday (Feb. 24) beginning at 8:25 a.m.
