    No. 6 USC Moves Into Needed Top 8 After NCAA Championships Second Round

    Trojans now seventh, bunched with handful of teams jockeying for a top 8 finish.

    THIS SEASON: Robynn Ree, a 2017 sophomore, is coming off a tremendous 2016 debut season when she was one of the top freshmen in the country, earning All-American honors, and will undoubtedly be a mainstay in the Trojans lineup this year.

    2016: Ree earned WGCA All-American second team and All-Pac-12 first team honors as a 2016 freshman, tying for the team-lead in stroke average (71.97), good enough for a tie for eighth on USC's single-season chart. Ree finished the season with four top 10 finishes and eight in the top 17. She led USC in three of 10 events and won her first collegiate title with a 4-under 212 (70-71-71) at The Gold Rush in Seal Beach, Calif. She had four rounds in the 60s, and finished the season 8-2 in match play action ... Ree was second at the Annika Intercollegiate at 10-under 206 (68-66-72) in her collegiate debut, tied for eighth at the Stanford Intercollegiate at 1-over 214 (70-72-72) and led USC with a tie for ninth at the Darius Rucker Invitational at 5-over 218 (72-73-73) ... Ree split her matches in USC's win at the East Lake Cup, defeating Baylor's Maggie Beth Byers, 4&3, in the semifinal round. Ree has won seven consecutive match play rounds. She went 4-0 in her matches at the SDSU March Mayhem, including a semifinal 4&3 win over Stanford's Mariah Stackhouse and a 3&2 win over Arizona's Krystal Quihuis in the final. Ree then went 3-0 in the Liz Murphey Invitational, including a 1up win over Georgia's Jillian Hollis in the third-place match.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Ree prepped at Redondo High in Redondo Beach, Calif., and was the third-ranked player in the 2015 class. She became the first player from her school to compete at the CIF State Girls Golf Championships in December of 2014, taking 17th, six off the place, and was the Bay League Player of the Year. She tied for first at the Southern Section Individual final at 4-under 68 to earn her spot at state ... She played alongside current sophomore Amy Lee on the `West' team in the Wyndham Cup in 2014 ... Ree earned 2014 AJGA All-American first team honors and earned second team merit in 2013. She was second at the 2014 AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions and eighth in 2015. Ree was sixth at both the 2015 AJGA's Thunderbird International Junior and the ANNIKA Invitational and second at the Women's Southern California Amateur Championship ... She was 13th at the Junior 2014 PGA Championships. She won the AJGA Junior at River Ridge in 2013 and was fifth at the 2013 Junior PGA.

    PERSONAL: Robynn is the daughter of Halen and Kenneth Ree ... One older brother, Lawrence, is a junior at Loyola Marymount, while another, Ryann Ree, is a senior at San Diego State who previously played at Oregon ... She is majoring in communication.
