    Trojans won the event in its inaugural 2011 season.


    THIS SEASON: Ellie Chai, a 2014 sophomore, will provide strong depth for the Trojans in her second year on the team.

    2013: Chai joined the Trojans in the spring of 2013 and played in two events as a freshman, taking 28th at the Lady Bulldog Invitational and tied for 79th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Chai prepped at Campbell Hall in North Hollywood, Calif., where she had a blossoming career as a junior before being sidelined for more than a year by a shoulder injury ... Chai competed for Campbell Hall's boys' golf team, earning 2009 and 2012 CIF Boys All-League first team and 2010 second team honors. She competed in 2011 at the CIF Girls Golf Northern Individual Divisional event, taking first. She won the 2009 Rose Bowl Junior Championship as well as the 2009 Alondra Junior Championship, the 2009 Harry Pressler Memorial title and the 2009 Bridgestone Fall Series Championship.

    PERSONAL: She was born April 16, 1994. She is a business administration major.

    Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

    Roger Federer, because during his matches he is so cool, calm, and collected. You never see an inch of emotion. Not to mention, he is one of the greatest tennis players in history.

    If you could play with any 3 people in the history of the world, who would it be?
    Graeme McDowell, Tiger in 1999, Luke Donald.

    Why did you choose to come to USC?
    USC has a great alumni network and a very reputable business school. Most of all, their golf team is one of the best in the country.

    What is your favorite golf course?
    English Turn CC.

    What is your favorite band or musical artist?
    Frank Sinatra

    What is your greatest golf memory?
    I was down by one stroke on 18, and on the last hole, I stick one close and made birdie, while the girl that was beating me bogeyed.

    What is your favorite type of food?
    Anything New Orleanian: gumbo, crawfish, crab, jambalaya.

    What do you like to do when you're not playing golf?
    I usually hang out with my friends. Maybe we'll go to a movie or have nice dinner somewhere, usually sushi..

    Tell us something about yourself that people don't likely know about you.
    I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I would still be living if it were not for Hurricane Katrina. My family lost all the house and everything inside of it and we moved out to Los Angeles in 2005. The only thing I had taken with me 2 hours before the storm hit was my pillow and my golf clubs.
