Wilmington, Calif.-- The fourth-ranked USC women's rowing team won three of four races Sunday (March 12) against the University of North Carolina at the Los Angeles Harbor. In their first NCAA race of 2000, the Trojans earn the win in head to head competition.

The Tarheels garnered their only victory when the Novice Eight boat defeated USC by nearly 13 seconds. UNC finished in a time of 8:04.5 with the Trojans finishing in 8:17.0.

USC then gained control of the race in the three events to follow. The Trojans' JV Eight boat came in at 7:09.0 to the Tarheel's time of 7:21.3. USC's Varsity Eight surpassed this margin of victory in the third race as the Trojans swept by North Carolina by more than 18 seconds. The boat finished in 6:40.9, while the Tarheels came in at 6:58.6. In the closest race of the day, USC's Novice Four defeated North Carolina in a time of 9:00.5 to 9:10.2
