    Burnham, Robinson and Espar Represent the Women as USC Athletes of the Week, As Robinson and Morozov Represent the Men

    The sand volleyball duo of Burnham/Robinson win the honor for the first time this year.

    Burnham recorded 72 kills (1.71 kps) as a sophomore while hitting .259 with 65 digs (1.55 dps) and 81.5 points (1.94 pps)...posted eight kills while hitting .375 in a sweep against Oregon State on Oct. 15...recorded nine kills, two aces and five digs while hitting .450 (9-0-20) in a three-set sweep on Sept. 3 at Florida Gulf Coast...on August 27 at No. 1 Penn State during the Rockvale Outlets/AVCA Showcase, Burnham registered a career-high 15 kills, 12 digs and 15.0 points in the five-set loss.

    Burnham made four starts in 20 matches as a freshman...she recorded 38 kills (1.03 kps), seven assists (0.19 aps), two service aces (0.05 saps), 38 digs (1.03 dps), three blocks (0.08 bps) and 42.5 points (1.15 pps)...had a season-high three assists on Nov. 13 against Arizona State...posted six kills for a .364 match (6-2-11) with two assists and three digs on Sept. 10 against Virginia...had a season-high seven digs on Aug. 28 in a four-set win over Cal State Fullerton...recorded season-highs with eight kills and nine points on Aug. 28 in a 3-0 sweep of Bucknell, hitting .583 (8-1-12) against the Bison...made her collegiate debut on Aug. 27 against Loyola Marymount and had five kills.

    She was a two-year varsity letterwinner at Newport Harbor High in Newport Beach, Calif., under coach Dan Glenn...rated No. 49 in the nation by Prep Volleyball and was a 2010 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection, along with earning All-America honors by Prep Volleyball...played on the 2010 United States U19 Beach training team...was the team captain for the Newport Harbor squad that won the 2009 CIF-SS Division 1-AA championship as Burnham earned 2009 All-CIF Southern Section first team honors...named most valuable player in the CIF Division I state championship match after posting 12 kills in the 3-0 sweep of Salinas...named to the 2009 Orange County Register all-county team and the Daily Pilot Dream Team in 2008 and 2009...her Newport Harbor squad also finished in first place at the Edison Beach Tournament and Huntington CBVA Tournament...Prep Volleyball also listed her as a Top 50 Junior National recruit as well as one of the Top 30 Underclassmen to Watch in April 2009...played club volleyball for the Orange County Volleyball Club...her club team placed first in the Mideast Qualifier for the 2010 Junior Olympics and was a member of the 16-1 championship squad at the 2008 Reno Volleyball Festival...her club team finished second at the 2006 Volleyball Festival...spent three years on the varsity track team, competing in the hurdles and long jump events...member of the honor roll in four semesters at Newport Harbor as well as a member of the 4.0 GPA honor roll as a junior.

    Kirby Leigh Burnham was born on February 6, 1992...parents are Scott and Jody...has one brother, Bryce, and two sisters, Taylor and Hadley...both parents and grandparents are USC graduates...her grandfather, Robert Morton, played on the USC men's basketball team in 1951 and 1952...favorite movie is La Misma luna (Under The Same Moon)...favorite television show is Friends...enjoys listening to Santigold, Cascada and Jack Johnson...lists former USC women's volleyball player April Ross, who also graduated from Newport Harbor High, as her biggest sports hero...enjoys painting, traveling, photography, sailing, running, playing Bocce Ball and going to the beach in her spare time...member of the National Charity League where she completes 50-100 hours of community service a year...she created her own neighborhood food drive in her community while she was in high school...majoring in communications.
