2014 Trojan Tip-Off To Be Held Sunday At The Galen Center|
Oct. 30, 2014
The Men's & Women's Basketball Trojan Tip-Off, featuring an array of games, prizes and activities for children as well as intrasquad scrimmages by both teams, will be held at the Galen Center on Nov. 2 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the Fanfest. The two 20-minute intrasquad scrimmages introducing the 2014-15 men's and women's teams will begin at 12:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
The 2014 Trojan Tip-Off will provide fans the first opportunity to see the exciting new USC men's and women's basketball teams, which will open their seasons in two weeks, with the men's team hosting Portland State at 7:30 p.m. and the women's team playing at South Carolina on Nov. 15.
Joining last season's men's standouts, guard Julian Jacobs and forward Nikola Jovanovic, is the No. 12 ranked recruiting class of freshmen guards Malik Marquetti, Jordan McLaughlin and Elijah Stewart, and forward Malik Martin. In addition, the Trojans will have the services of impact sophomores forward Darion Clark and guard Katin Reinhardt, who transferred to USC prior to last season. This talented and athletic group leads a team which could make head coach Andy Enfield's second season a special one.
The defending Pac-12 Tournament champion women's team will be anchored by seniors Kiki Alofaituli, Kaneisha Horn and Alexyz Vaioletama, along with juniors Brianna Barrett and Destinie Gibbs and redshirt sophomore Jordan Adams. The departure of graduated All-American Honorable Mention recipient Cassie Harberts is sure to be noticed, but the 2014-15 Women of Troy still return three starters from the 2014 Pac-12 Championship squad as well as plenty of offensive and defensive firepower to remain a contender throughout the season to come.
During the Trojan Tip-Off, fans will have the opportunity to meet the coaches and players, get autographs and participate in interactive skills challenges with the players and coaches. DJ Malski will be performing and there will be special appearances by the Trojan Dance Force, Song Girls and The Spirit of Troy.
