USC Women's Basketball Schedule Announced|
Sept. 10, 2013
USC head coach Cynthia Cooper and her 2013-14 Women of Troy will get plenty of face-time this season with 18 USC women's basketball games scheduled to be televised this season. The Trojans have one matchup with Stanford set for a national audience on ESPN2, along with 17 games on the Pac-12 Networks. All but one conference game is due to be televised. All told, USC will face eight teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year, and will play a total of 12 regular-season contests against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the final national polls last season.
The Women of Troy will open their 2013-14 campaign on the road with visits to UC Davis and Fresno State before heading back to Los Angeles for their home opener against San Diego State at 4 p.m. on November 13. USC's first televised game of the year will come on November 25 when the Trojans open their Galen Center doors to South Carolina for a 5 p.m. matchup that will be broadcast by Pac-12 Networks.
The Trojans will get out of state for two nonconference trips in 2013. USC pays a visit to Oklahoma State on November 22 and later heads farther south to Cancun, Mexico, for action in the Mayan Tournament at the Cancun Challenge from Nov. 28-30. There, USC will come up against Iowa, UNC Wilmington and Boston College.
Upon return, USC's first action of December takes the team to Northridge to face the Matadors of Cal State Northridge on Dec. 10 before settling in at home for a stretch of three final nonconference clashes. Saint Mary's is first up in the stretch at 6 p.m. on December 19. After that, USC welcomes back two former Trojan assistant coaches who now helm their own programs. Former USC associate head coach Laura Beeman brings her Hawai'i team to town on December 21, and former Trojan player and assistant coach Jody Wynn returns to Troy with her Long Beach State squad on December 28 at 2 p.m.
From there, the Women of Troy dig right in to Pac-12 action. The only USC game not set to be televised during conference play will be the Trojans' trip to Arizona in January. The Pac-12 race kicks off with a crosstown showdown between USC and rival UCLA. The Trojans will take a trip to Westwood on December 30 to face the Bruins. The return rivalry match will feature a doubleheader with the USC men, who will also host UCLA at the Galen Center on February 8. The Women of Troy will kick off the double day against the Bruins at 3 p.m. that afternoon.
Other heated Pac-12 clashes on the agenda will include USC's conference home opener against Colorado on January 3. The Buffaloes were one of four Pac-12 teams to make the NCAA Tournament last season, joining Stanford, California and UCLA in the 2013 NCAA field. USC's visit to Stanford on January 27 will be televised on ESPN2. The Trojans will later host Stanford and California in USC's final weekend of home competition, February 21 and 23, respectively.
USC's 2013-14 opponents who played in the 2013 NCAA Tournament are: Fresno State, San Diego State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, California, Colorado, Stanford and UCLA. The final 2013 AP poll included #4 Stanford, #6 California, #11 UCLA, #16 South Carolina and #19 Colorado, with Oklahoma State, Iowa and San Diego State receiving votes. The final USA Today Coaches Poll included #5 California, #7 Stanford, #15 UCLA and #16 South Carolina, with Colorado, Oklahoma State and San Diego State receiving votes.
All games at the 2014 Pac-12 Tournament -- held at Key Arena in Seattle from March 6-9 -- will be televised on Pac-12 Networks. The championship game will be televised on ESPN.
