Aug. 21, 2011
USC's Jacki Gemelos helped the United States finish off a dominating run in which Team USA won all but one game by double figures, as the U.S. women's basketball squad claimed gold at the 2011 World University Games early this morning in Shenzhen, China.
Gemelos scored five points and added two assists and a rebound in the United States' powerful win over Taiwan in the gold-medal game. She was a part of Team USA's undefeated run through all action in China, culminating in today's 101-66 win over Taiwan to get the U.S. squad on the top step of the podium. Gemelos and her gold medal are set to return to Troy for Gemelos' final season of competition at USC. She has persevered through multiple knee injuries, playing her first full season just last season. Gemelos was USC's third leading scorer in 2010-11 and earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention.
