Incoming Trojan Drew Edelman Wins Gold At Maccabiah Games|
July 29, 2013
USC women's basketball incoming freshman Drew Edelman will bring some hardware along with her when she reports for duty at Troy. As a member of the USA's 15-18 girls' team at this month's Maccabiah Games, Edelman helped lead the U.S. squad to a gold-medal finish at the competition in Israel.
Edelman, a post player who comes to USC from Menlo School in Atherton, Calif., came up big for the USA at the 2013 Maccabiah Games. She scored 15 points when the United States first faced Canada during preliminary action, then later doubled up on that effort with a 30-point game in the final. Edelman also served up 18 points in the prelims against Australia, then added 19 when the teams met again in the semifinals. Against Israel in prelim play, Edelman scored 27 points for her Team USA squad.
Edelman will be joined by Courtney Jaco as USC's incoming freshman class for 2013-14, joining their fellow Women of Troy for the first season of competition under new head coach and Trojan great Cynthia Cooper-Dyke. Edelman won't be the only gold-medalist on the squad this season, as she follows senior Cassie Harberts' trip to the top of the podium at the World University Games with Team USA.
