LOS ANGELES -- Guard Jamie Hagiya of South Torrance (Calif.) High signed a letter of intent with the USC women's basketball team, head coach Chris Gobrecht announced today.

Hagiya completes the Women of Troy's recruiting class for the 2004 season. She joins Jamie Funn of Los Angeles Narbonne High, Markisha Lea of Riverside (Calif.) King High, Eshaya Murphy of Montclair Prep in Van Nuys, Calif., Chloe Kerr of Bolingbrook (Ill.) High, Allison Jaskowiak of Parkway West High in St. Louis, Mo., and Katie Henderson of Redmond (Wash.) High.

"Jamie will definitely help us in the areas that plagued us last season," said Gobrecht. "She has an outstanding outside shot, she can handle the ball and is good on the fast break. We are very happy to have someone with her skills and character. She is a great addition to the six players we signed in the fall."

Hagiya, a 5-foot-4 point guard, led all Southern California prepsters with an 87.7 free throw percentage this season and finished second with a 63.5 three-point field goal percentage. She averaged 22.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 6.5 steals as a senior. Among her many accolades, Hagiya was named to the All-CIF Division II-A first team, Los Angeles Times South Bay/Westside All-Region first team and the South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area first team. She was also honored as this year's Ocean League Player of the Year.
