    PULLMAN, Wash. -- The USC women's basketball team captured its biggest win of the year with a 53-point victory, 89-36, over Washington State on Saturday night in front of 573 at Friel Court. With five players in double figures, the Women of Troy handed the Cougars their worst home loss ever.

    With the win, USC improves to 10-12 overall this season and 5-6 in the Pac-10. The Cougars endure their 43rd-consecutive loss, dropping to 0-19 overall and 0-11 in conference play.

    Washington State rattled the Trojans early for an 8-4 lead to start, but USC broke loose at the 15-minute mark. The Women of Troy embarked on a 36-3 scoring spree over the next 10 minutes to go ahead 40-11. USC continued to mount points, while holding the Cougars without a field goal until 2:18 on a Holly Harris jumper.

    USC entered the break with a 31-point advantage (48-17) - their largest halftime lead of the season.

    With a 23-7 run the start the second half, the Women of Troy had four of five starters in double digits by the 10-minute mark for a 71-24 lead. USC went ahead by 49-points on its next possession, 73-24, and there was not much more the Cougars could do. The Women of Troy had four of its five starters on the bench with five minutes remaining.

    USC's Rometra Craig led all scorers with 19 points and Rachel Woodward led with nine rebounds. Washington State's leading scorer Lindsey Egeland finished with seven points. The Women of Troy shot 50.0 percent from the field, and held WSU to a 22.2 field goal percentage.

    The Women of Troy return home this week to face crosstown rival UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 8, for a Lexus Gauntlet rematch. The game tips at 4 p.m. at the Sports Arena and can be heard in Los Angeles on KMPC-AM 1540.
