2003-04 JUNIOR SEASON
Gipson made 11 starts as a junior and played in 27 of 28 games... Averaged 2.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.6 steals per game... Had her best performance of the season at Oregon State on Jan. 4 when she collected 11 points off of 4-of-5 shooting (.800) and hit 3-of-4 (.750) at the free throw line... Set a new career high with four steals against Colorado on Dec. 20... Tied her career high with three assists at Arizona on Jan. 15.
2002-03 SOPHOMORE SEASON
As a sophomore, Gipson played in all 31 games and made four starts... Averaged 3.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks per game... Posted a career-high three assists at Colorado on Dec. 21... Scored a season-best 10 points and posted a career-high 83.3 (5-6) shooting percentage against Stanford on Jan. 26... Set three personal records against Washington State on Feb. 1, with six free throws made, eight free throw attempts and a 75.0 shooting percentage at the line.
2001-02 FRESHMAN SEASON
In her first season with the Women of Troy, Gipson played in all 30 games and made two starts... Earned the team's `Coaches Award' (along with teammate Rachel Woodward) at the end of the season... She averaged 3.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks per game... Led the team with a 52.3 shooting percentage from the field... Posted a block in seven games... Made her first collegiate start at Tennessee (Nov. 18) and collected two points and five rebounds... Had a season-high nine rebounds against Morgan State (Nov. 21)... Scored in double figures twice for a season-high 12 points against Washington State (Jan. 4) and Arizona (Jan. 17)... In her second start of the season against the Wildcats, she hit 6-of-12 (.500) from the field in a season-best 28 minutes on the court... Shot 66.7 percent from the line on March 2 against Oregon State in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament.
Gipson is a 2001 graduate of Westchester (Calif.) High... A four-year basketball letterwinner and true talent, she began playing organized basketball as a high school freshman... Rated as the seventh-best recruit in the nation by All-Star Girl's Report... As a senior she led Westchester to the L.A. City Championship game with an average of 22 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and three blocks per game... Tabbed as the Western League MVP in 2001... Also honored as a 2001 Los Angeles Times all-area and South Bay Daily Breeze all-area second team pick... A first team all-league selection as a junior and second team pick as sophomore... Named to the All-L.A. City first team in 2000 and 2001.... Averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game as a junior... Averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds as a sophomore... A 2000 Nike Camp invitee... Made the Honor Roll all four years.
Kimberly Lorrine Gipson was born Nov. 16, 1983, in Los Angeles... The daughter of Timmy Gipson and Kathie Carpenter, she has one brother, Quinton Gipson (8), and one sister, Angel Carpenter (23)... Names Jerry Rice, of the NFL's Oakland Raiders, as her biggest sports hero because of his determination and work ethic...
