THIS SEASON
Widely regarded as the top recruit in the nation upon entering USC and one of the most skilled players in the game, sharpshooter and smooth ball-handler Jacki Gemelos overcame a string of knee injuries before returning to action in 2010 and establishing herself as a leader. She now enters her final season as a Trojan.
2010-11 SEASON
For the first time in her USC career, Gemelos entered the season fully healthy and went on to play in every game for the Trojans... Received All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention... Led the conference in 3-point percentage (42.4%)... Was third on the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game and second in 3-pointers with 52 made... Also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per game... Set new career highs with 27 points at Fresno State on Dec. 29, hitting five 3-pointers and making 11 field goals in the game... Had a career-high five blocks vs. Oregon... Had three games with nine rebounds and two with six assists... Scored in double figures in 27 games, including a run of 11 straight double-digit games to end the year... Appeared in all 37 games and started 28... Named to Pac-10 All-Academic First Team with her 3.5 GPA in her first stretch of her master's program... Named a finalist for the V Foundation Comeback Award.
2009-10 SEASON
Following surgery to repair her left ACL in May 2009 and subsequent rehab, Gemelos played her first collegiate game on Feb. 4, 2010 at Cal... Had eight points, five rebounds and five assists in her career debut... Averaged 7.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.8 steals per game, having appeared in all 11 games after returning to competition... Set her career scoring high with 13 points in three different games... First career block came at Oregon with a two-block outing... First career steal was at UCLA... Scored in doubles figures in four games.
2008-09 SEASON
Gemelos endured her third straight knee injury and missed another season of competition after tearing the ACL in her left knee just before the start of the 2008-09 season.
2007-08 SEASON
Gemelos was sidelined for her second straight season after suffering another tear to her ACL during the offseason.
2006-07 SEASON
Gemelos redshirted her first season in order to heal from a knee injury suffered at the close of her high school career.
NATIONAL TEAMS
Invited to U.S. team trials in summer 2011, Gemelos has been named a finalist for the USA's 2011 World University Games team.
HIGH SCHOOL
Gemelos finished her high school career at St. Mary's High with 3,162 career points after averaging 39.2 points, 8.9 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game as a senior... In 2006, was named a McDonald's All-American, WBCA All-American, Miss Basketball of California... Named 2006 National Player of the Year by MaxPreps and Scout.com and runner-up for Player of the Year by Parade and Hoopgurlz.com... Stockton Record Player of the Year all four years... USA Today First Team selection in 2006 and Second Team in 2005... Parade first-teamer in 2005... Slam Magazine First Team selection in 2004 and 2005... Jacqueline Ann Gemelos was born on Nov. 22, 1988, in Stockton, Calif.... The daughter of Linda and Steve, she has two sisters, Johnna and Zayna... Says Diana Taurasi is her biggest sports hero... Hopes to play in the WNBA and make the U.S. National Team... Would like to go skydiving one day... Has completed her bachelor's degree in sociology and is currently pursuing a master's in gerontology.
