    Stanford Avoids Another Close Call With USC

    PALO ALTO, CA - Jamila Wideman scored a team-high 24 points to lead third-ranked Stanford to a convincing 103-69 victory tonight before a crowd of 5,101 at Maples Pavilion.

    Olympia Scott added 17 points, while Vanessa Nygaard chipped in with 16 for the Cardinal, which improved to 22-1 overall and 10-0 in the Pac-10.

    Tina Thompson scored a game-high 29 points to go along with seven rebounds to lead the Trojans, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Kristin Clark added 19 points and seven boards for USC (14-5, 8-2).

    Stanford led 46-33 at the halftime and blew the game wide open in the second half. The Cardinal, which shot 55 percent from the floor in the game, outscored USC 57-36 in the final half.

    Stanford went to the line 21 more times than USC in the contest. The Cardinal shot 85 percent (33-for-39) from the line in the game, compared USC's 61 percent (11-for-18).

    Stanford had edged USC, 77-76, earlier this season in Los Angeles.
