January 2, 1997 USC's Parriott Wins Pac-10 Opener From Free-Throw LineSEATTLE - USC's Jodi Parriott made three free throws with no time left on the clock as USC won its Pacific 10 Conference opener 69-68 against host Washington Thursday night at Edmundson Pavilion. With the Trojans trailing by two points and time running down, Parriott was fouled attempting a desperation half-court shot, giving her the chance to win the game from the free-throw line. USC was also able to overcome a game-high 34 points by Jamie Redd as it moved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Trojans held a 34-21 halftime lead, but Washington came alive in the second half, outscoring USC 47-35. The Huskies shot 56 percent from the floor in the second half, compared to 37 percent by the Trojans. Redd finished with 11 rebounds to lead Washington. USC (69)
