Colorado State Holds Off USC 67-64

IRVINE, Calif. -- Sophomore guard Becky Hammon scored 26 points to lead Colorado State over USC, 67-64, in the first game of the UC Irvine/Newport Marriott Classic at the Bren Events Center Friday night.

Hammon scored 16 of her points in the second half as the Rams won their sixth straight game and improved to 7-1 overall on the season.

Jacque Johnson added 12 points and eight rebounds for Colorado State, which led 38-33 at halftime. The Rams led 46-40 with 14:44 remaining before USC mounted a comeback and went ahead 50-49 with 11:50 left on a three-point play by sophomore forward Adrain Williams.

The game was last tied at 59-59 until Hammon hit a pair of free throws with 3:32 remaining to put Colorado State for good.
