USC Women's Basketball Closes Exhibition Season With Win Over Portland Saints, 86-62.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The USC womens basketball team completed its brief exhibition season with an 86-62 win over the Portland Saints in front of 350 at the Lyon Center on Fri. night (Nov. 29).

USC was led by senior forward Tina Thompson's 23 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore guard Kristin Clark's 18 points and five steals.

"After having Thanksgiving yesterday, I think we were a step behind today," explained USC Coach Fred Williams. "It took us the first half to really get going. There was a big difference. In the second half we were moving the ball better, shooting the ball better. We made some adjustments, like switching from a man-to-man defense to a zone."

The Saints were paced by Miriam Jenkins' 20 points.

USC finishes the exhibition season 2-0. USC opens the regular season on Sun. (Dec. 1) at 4 p.m. at San Diego State.
