    Tina Thompson Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

    Walnut Creek, Calif. -- USC senior forward Tina Thompson has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

    Thompson, a 6-foot-3 native of Los Angeles, Calif., scored a combined 47 points at the Dial Soap Classic at Louisiana Tech last week. The Trojans split their games, defeating Western Illinois 80-42 and losing to then No. 3 Louisiana Tech, 66-47.

    Against the Lady Techsters, she made 17 of 30 field goal attempts (three of eight from three-point land), scoring 25 points. She marked a single-season high six blocks and leads the league in blocks per game with 3.0.

    In two games she had a combined 15 rebounds, six blocks, three assists and three steals.

    The weekly Pac-10 honor is the third for Thompson in her career, USC's 23rd Player of the Week honor all-time.
