Olgard, Dennerley And Kurzeka Named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes Of The Week|

Alexis Olgard of the women's volleyball team as well as Joel Dennerley and Peter Kurzeka of the men's water polo team were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (Dec. 5) for the week of November 28-Dec. 4.
Alexis Olgard: Women's Volleyball: Sophomore middle blocker Alexis Olgard had a team-high 11 kills Friday as the No. 7-seeded USC Women of Troy opened the 2011 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-13, 25-18) over the Yale Bulldogs at the Galen Center. Olgard had no errors while hitting .647 (11-0-17) with three blocks in the first-ever meeting in women's volleyball between the two schools. She also had 11 kills with no errors Saturday as the Trojans swept the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-19), in the second round. Olgard hit .733 (11-0-15) as the Trojans hit .372 as a team with four players recording double-digit kills in the match. USC (27-4) advances to the Honolulu Regional next weekend and will play No. 10-seed Hawai'i in the third round on Friday (December 9). The match features two of the top three teams in the nation according to the latest AVCA poll (No. 1 USC and No. 3 Hawai'i).
Joel Dennerley and Peter Kurzeka: Men's Water Polo: With a commanding 7-4 win over UCLA Sunday, top-seeded USC finished off its fourth consecutive national championship, anchored by two Trojans who will now be proud owners of four national championship rings - seniors Joel Dennerley and Peter Kurzeka. Dennerley hauled in 15 saves and landed himself the NCAA Tournament MVP selection. Kurzeka scored four goals in Friday's semi-final against Princeton and added another in the title game. Both seniors earned All-Tournament First Team honors. Led by head coach Jovan Vavic, the Trojans became the first team in history to win four straight NCAA water polo titles.
