Kostas Genidounias Grabs Another MPSF Player of the Week Honor|
Nov. 11, 2013
USC junior Kostas Genidounias has snagged his second MPSF Player of the Week award of the season thanks to his outstanding efforts in two important MPSF wins for USC over the weekend. This is the third career pick for Genidounias.
Genidounias started the successful weekend by going big against host California, serving up five goals to help anchor a powerful comeback road win by the Trojans. He scored the first goals of the day for USC to help counter a fast start by the No. 5 Bears, who led 4-1 only to see Genidounias and the Trojans rally back. His fifth of the day pushed USC to its largest lead of the day, up by two in the fourth quarter, and helped the Trojans close out the 11-9 victory on the road. The next day, back at USC, Genidounias scored two more goals in an eventual 13-3 win over No. 7 Pepperdine.
The busy weekend now has Genidounias on top as USC's leading scorer this season with 65 goals - the seventh most single-season goals in program history. What's more, Genidounias moves up to rank No. 6 all-time in career scoring at USC. He has scored in every game this season.
The Trojans have another weekend of back-to-back games on tap. USC have a bigtime matchup against Stanford on Saturday (Nov. 16) starting at 2 p.m. at USC's home pool at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The next day, USC will host Long Beach State at 12 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 17).
