Women Of Troy Welcome Home Grads For Saturday Alumni Game|
Nov. 1, 2012
Women of Troy past and present will converge on McDonald's Swim Stadium this Saturday for an Alumni Game and celebration. The USC women's water polo team will welcome home Trojan greats from at least two of USC's national championship teams, including Olympic gold-medalists Tumua Anae and Kami Craig. USC head coach Jovan Vavic has guided them all, as he now enters his 18th season at the helm of the USC water polo program.
All the action is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 3) as the women take over the pool following the USC men's 1 p.m. match against UC Santa Barbara. Highlighting the roster of alums will be 2004 NCAA championship teammates Erin Wilson (Shilling), Brittany Hayes, Erika Figge and Marina Mayer, along with 2010 NCAA Champions Tumua Anae, Joelle Bekhazi, Kami Craig, Alexandra Kiss and Stephanie Lavayen.
That crew of 2010 champs will have to square off against a handful of their fellow national champions, as this year's seniors -- Constance Hiller, Patricia Jancso, Nicolina McCall, Dominique Sardo and Chelsea Silvers -- were also a part of that winning roster. The alumni game will also present an Olympic rematch of sorts, with Team USA's Anae and Craig having squared off against current USC freshman Anni Espar of Spain in the 2012 gold-medal game in London. In addition to Espar, USC's 2013 roster also boasts Olympian Flora Bolonyai, who competed in London for Hungary and returns to USC as a junior goalie for the Women of Troy.
Come join the fun at the reunion!
