Kostas Genidounias Named KAP7 NorCal Classic MVP|
Sept. 23, 2014
USC senior Kostas Genidounias has been named the MVP of the KAP7 NorCal Classic following a 14-goal performance at the tournament, hosted by Pacific last weekend. KAP7, the official sponsor of the event, officially announced the 2014 KAP7 NorCal Classic All-Tournament Team today. Genidounias was a scoring machine for the Trojans, drumming up a career-high seven goals during the third-place game to match the third highest single-game scoring tally in USC history.
Biding his time on day one with two goals in the win over Air Force and then three against UC Santa Barbara, Genidounias was the man of the match in both tough games on Sunday. As USC came up against some stingy defenses, Genidounias provided two goals in a loss to UCLA in the semifinals before taking matters into his own hands against Cal with his seven-goal surge. That included a ferocious four goals in the fourth period as USC tried to fight out of a big hole, although the comeback bid would fall short as the Bears held on for the win.
With his 14 goals scored at the NorCal tournament, senior Genidounias is now two goals away from the No. 2 all-time scoring spot. He now has 218 in his career to date. No. 2 Juraj Zatovic scored 220, and No. 1 Nikola Vavic has the top tally with 254.
