LOS ANGELES - Women's volleyball outside hitter Samantha Bricio earned USC Women's Athlete of the Week honors, while senior driver Nikola Vavic of the men's water polo team was named the Male USC Athlete of the Week for Sept. 2-8.

USC Women's Athlete of the Week: USC sophomore OH Samantha Bricio took home MVP honors at the Marquette Challenge as she helped the Trojans to win over TCU and Marquette. She posted the Trojans' first double-double of the season with 16 kills and 15 digs against the Horned Frogs while she maintained a .275 hitting percentage. Bricio was also on fire from behind the line as she posted six service aces (one shy of tying her own career high). She averaged 4.95 points per set over USC's three matches and powered the Trojan offense to a win with 16 more kills and a .324 hitting percentage against Northern Illinois.

USC Men's Athlete of the Week: Senior Nikola Vavic led the way in a dominating start to 2013 competition for the Trojans, scoring 14 goals across USC's first four wins of the season. Vavic also supplied 14 assists and had 11 steals during the Triton Invitational, where USC beat Cal Baptist, No. 12 LMU, No. 13 Air Force and Redlands. Vavic scored five goals on day one, and went even bigger on the second day of play. He poured in four goals vs. Air Force and wrapped the day with five against Redlands. Vavic's seventh goal of the weekend launched the senior into the No. 3 all-time spot in career scoring at USC. With four wins over the weekend, USC adds to its win streak, which dates back to 2011 and is now at 35 in a row.
