Three Trojans Named to USA Roster For FINA Super Final|
May 28, 2013
The U.S men's water polo roster will be three Trojans strong for the coming FINA World League Super Final in Russia next month. Making his debut on the USA's senior squad is recent USC grad and five-time national champ Michael Rosenthal, who joins fellow Trojan grads Shea Buckner and Tommy Corcoran.
The 2012 NCAA Tournament MVP, Michael Rosenthal just finished up his Trojan playing career and has earned the trip to Russia for his first call-up to the U.S. national team program since his role on the Cadet squad years ago. Rosenthal missed fellow Trojan Tommy Corcoran by a year, but did share pool time with Shea Buckner through USC's 2008 and 2009 national championship runs. Corcoran, a 2008 USC grad, also has worked his way up the USA ladder in having joined the U.S. senior squad for the 2010 FINA World Cup and also going international with Team USA at the 2013 UANA World Aquatic Championship qualification tournament. Buckner has been in the mix for a long while, having made his senior team major debut in 2005 at the FINA World Championships and also boasting Olympian status as a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team.
Buckner, Corcoran, Rosenthal and the rest of the 15-player U.S. team have been selected by new USA men's head coach Dejan Udovicic to travel to Chelyabinsk, Russia, for competition June 11-16. The Trojan trio also was in action for Team USA last weekend at the FINA World League Prelims in Los Alamitos, Calif.
