    No.2 USC Drops UCI 14-2 in Water Polo Season Opener

    IRVINE, CA - USC's men's water polo team, ranked No.2 nationally, topped No.6 UC Irvine, 14-2 in the season opener at Heritage park in Irvine Saturday.

    The Trojans began the scoring with 6:13 remaining in the first quarter on a goal by freshman Sean Hylton with the Anteaters returning the favor 19 seconds later on a goal by sophomore Dan Klatt.

    USC's Simun Cimerman put the Trojans in top for good with a two-point goal with 3:13 remaining in the first quarter. USC ran off eight unanswered goals until UCI's Robert Allaire scored the Anteaters' second goal with 3:50 remaining in the third quarter.

    Cimerman and James Castle led the Trojans with three points each.

    Southern California begins the season 1-0, while UCI drops to 0-1.
