    No. 2 USC Men's Water Polo Falls to No. 3 Stanford, 8-6

    LOS ANGELES -- The No. 2 USC men's water polo team lost to No. 3 Stanford, 8-6, in a physical contest on Saturday at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.

    Marko Pintaric netted two scores but it wasn't enough in USC's 8-6 loss to Stanford.

    USC dropped to 14-5 overall, 3-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Stanford improved to 14-5, 5-2.

    The Trojans led for most of the first half until David Hay's goal tied it for Stanford with 2:18 left in the second quarter, and then Arturo Rodelo's goal put the Cardinal ahead, 5-4.

    Late in the game, USC had a chance to tie it. With two minutes remaining, USC junior driver Marko Pintaric was awarded the ball, but he failed to pick it up and Stanford's Layne Beaubien stole the ball and scored to secure a victory for the Cardinal.

    USC hosts Long Beach State on Sunday (Nov. 9) at the McDonald's Swim Stadium at noon.
