Trojans Fall to No. 2 Stanford, 9-5

STANFORD, Calif. - Brian Heifferon and David Hay each scored three points to lead the second-ranked Stanford water polo team to a 9-5 victory over third-ranked USC in a non-league game Sunday at deGuerre Pool.

The game was tied 5-5 entering the fourth period, but the Cardinal outscored the Trojans, 4-0, in the final period.

Stanford upped its season record to 17-5 while USC fell to 16-6.

Stanford hosts California in the Big Splash next Saturday at 10 a.m. at deGuerre Pool.
