    STANFORD, Calif. -- Juan Delgadillo scored three goals Sunday as the USC Trojans defeated the UC Irvine Anteaters, 7-4, in the third-place match at the 2004 MPSF Championship. With the win, the Trojans finish the season with a 22-5 record.

    USC held a 5-2 lead at halftime as Don Ricci registered seven saves in goal for the Trojans.

    Stanford defeated UCLA, 7-6, in the championship match to earn the automatic berth for next weekend's NCAA Championship, also at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.

    Recap: Juan Delgadillo scored three of the Trojan's seven goals to help USC claim third place in the MPSF Championship this afternoon. Two of his scores came in the first half, as USC took a 5-2 lead into the break. Starting goalie Don Ricci recorded seven saves before Adam Shilling replaced him in the fourth quarter and notched another three saves to keep the Anteaters away. Four different UC Irvine players scored, but an early 3-0 run by the Trojans proved the difference, as USC finished with a 7-4 victory.
