BERKELEY, Calif. -- Senior Daniel Lontay scored six goals while sophomore goalie Bozidar Damjanovic made 11 saves as the USC Trojans registered a 9-8 win in overtime against the California Golden Bears. With the win, the Trojans improved to 11-5 on the season and finished third in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with a 6-2 record. USC has also its last six straight matches.
Cal jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Trojans responded with three straight. The Trojans were up 7-6 with 2:38 left in regulation before Cal tied it on a goal by Mike West.
USC controlled the overtime, but Cal had one last gasp with two seconds remaining on a shot that hit the crossbar to end the match.
The Trojans conclude the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 17) with a non-conference match against UCLA at 1 p.m. at McDonald's Swim Stadium. USC has locked up the No. 3 seed at the MPSF Championships in Berkeley (Nov. 22-24).
