IRVINE, Calif. - Seven different USC men's water polo players scored as the No. 1 Trojans converted four extra-man goals and defeated No. 9 UC Irvine, 8-5, in a non-conference game at Anteater pool on Sunday afternoon.
It was the 12th straight win for USC (15-2) over UC Irvine (7-11).
Senior James Castle scored two goals for the Trojans, who bounced back from a loss to Stanford on Saturday. Senior goalie Richard McEvoy recorded 12 saves.
USC's lead was just 4-3 at halftime, but the Trojans pushed it to 7-3 after three quarters thanks to goals by Peter Janov, Bjorn Nordstrom and Ivan Babic.
