USC Men's Water Polo Falls To UCLA In Championship Game Of NorCal Tournament

Tim Wollthan scored four goals and Daniel Lontay added two goals but the No. 2 USC men's water polo team fell, 11-9, to UCLA in the championship game of the NorCal tournament hosted by the University of Pacific on Saturday-Sunday (Oct. 21-22).

UCLA outscored the Trojans 3-0 in the second quarter to take an 8-3 halftime lead. USC cut the lead to 10-8 with 1:59 left in the game, but UCLA's Sean Kern scored his third goal with 43 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

For the Trojans, Ivan Babic, George Csaszar and Jeff Larson each added a goal, while goalie Darin Smith had seven saves.

To get to the championship game, USC beat Stanford 5-3 on Sunday. On Saturday, the Trojans defeated Long Beach State, 9-5, and Santa Clara, 17-7.

USC next hosts California at McDonald's Pool on Saturday (Oct. 28).
