LOS ANGELES - Senior Nenad Praporski scored two goals Friday to lead the No. 4 USC Trojans to a 9-7 victory against the Loyola Marymount Lions in non-conference action at McDonald's Swim Stadium. The Trojans improve to 6-5 on the season.
USC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on goals by Jeff Larson, Praporski and James Shin. Both teams then traded goals as USC held a 5-2 lead after the first period. The Lions made a run late in the second period with three unanswered goals and trailed 6-5 at half before Praporski scored at 1:34 of the third.
"Nenad did a good job of shutting down their two-meter player," said USC Head Coach Jovan Vavic. "We just need to improve on our overall defense and our mental toughness. We can shut down anyone when we need to at any time, but we just need to concentrate."
USC travels to UC Irvine for a non-conference match tomorrow at 7 p.m.
