LOS ANGELES - Three of the the top four ranked men's water polo teams -- No. 1 USC, No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 UCLA -- advanced to the semifinals of the Southern California Tournament, hosted by the Trojans at McDonald's Swim Stadium, while No. 7 UC Irvine joined them with an upset on Saturday.

On Sunday (Sept. 19), USC battles UC Irvine in the first semifinal at 10:15 a.m., while Stanford and UCLA meet in the second semifinal at 11:20 a.m. The championship will take place at 4:45 p.m.

UC Irvine knocked off No. 4 California, 8-7, to take its place in the semifinals. The Anteaters also routed UC Davis, 18-2. Defending NCAA champion and host USC got by Pacific, 12-3, and UC Santa Barbara, 7-5.

Stanford won a couple of close games, beating Long Beach State, 8-6, and UC San Diego, 7-5. UCLA had the easiest time of the four semifinalists, beating Pepperdine, 7-3, and Navy, 14-6.

All of the top 10 men's water polo teams in the nation are participating in the tournament, and all 13 participating teams are ranked among the top 18.
