LOS ANGELES - Freshman Tim Wollthan scored 3 goals to lead the No. 4-ranked USC men's water polo team to an overwhelming 12-2 victory over No. 18 UC Davis on Friday (Sept. 15) at McDonald's Swim Stadium at USC.
USC improved to 2-0, while UC Davis fell to 0-3.
Wollthan tallied USC's first three goals of the game in the first quarter. Junior Ivan Babic and freshman Brett Reynolds added two goals each for the Trojans.
Leading 5-2 at the half, the Trojans went on to play tight defense in the second half, leaving the Aggies scoreless.
"The best part about a game like this is that the younger players get a good amount of playing time," said USC head coach Jovan Vavic. "We had a few young players today, such as Brett Reynolds, Brian Ault and Erik Healy, who scored the first goals of their careers at USC."
The Aggies' goals came from Michael Pountney and Lance Campbell.
USC next plays this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 16 and 17) in the So-Cal Tournament at Corona del Mar High.
