    Former Trojan Juan Figueroa Helps His Team Win Puerto Rico League Title

    Former USC men's volleyball star Juan Figueroa concluded his competitive career by helping his Capitanes de Arecibo team capture the championship of the Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculino, the Puerto Rico Volleyball Federation's top league.

    Arecibo defeated Mets of Guaynabo on Dec. 13 in four sets, winning 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19, to give the Capitanes their fourth match victory over the Mets in the best-of-seven matches championship.

    The 28-year-old Figueroa, who has played professionally mainly in Puerto Rico and with his native country's national team since his USC days, lettered at USC from 2005 to 2008 and twice earned All-American second team honors.
