USC junior setter Micah Christenson was named to the 2014 Off the Block Pre-season All-American first team.

He was the only Trojan selected to the Off the Block first or second teams.

Christenson, who was the starting setter for the U.S. Men's National Team at last month's FIVB Grand Champions Cup in Japan after helping the Americans win the NORCECA Continental Championship in Canada in September, was the AVCA National Freshman of the Year in 2012 and was an All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation second teamer in 2013.

The USC men's volleyball team, which is coming off a rebuilding season in 2013 after having advanced to the NCAA Final Four 3 of the previous 4 years, hosts Alberta in an exhibition on Dec. 31 in the Galen Center. USC then begins its 2014 spring season with non-conference road matches at Loyola-Chicago on Jan. 4 and Lewis on Jan. 5.

The Off the Block website has covered collegiate men's volleyball since 2011.
