    USA Men's Volleyball's Olympic Medal Quest Ends

    The USA men's volleyball team's quest to defend its Olympic championship came to an end with a 28-26, 25-20, 25-20 loss to Italy in the quarterfinals of the 2012 London Games on Wednesday (Aug. 8).

    The Americans, with former Trojan All-American Donald Suxho setting, were ranked No. 5 in the world and had gone 4-1 in pool play, while the No. 6 Italians were 3-2 in preliminary round action.

    Suxho had 69 assists, 10 digs and 2 blocks in the match.

    The USA held a 13-9 lead in the first set, but then surrendered 4 consecutive points while leading 18-15 and saw the momentum slip away.

    Suxho, who lettered at USC from 1997 to 2000, was the 2000 National Collegiate Player of the Year. The native of Albania who came to America for college also participated in the 2004 Olympics for the USA.
