Aug. 6, 2012
Former Trojan star setter Donald Suxho and the defending Olympic champion USA men's volleyball team concluded preliminary round play at the 2012 London Olympics with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 win over Tunisia on Monday (Aug. 6).
The Americans, ranked No. 5 in the world, were coming off a tough five-set loss to Russia on Saturday (Aug. 4) for their only loss in 5 pool play matches (snapping an 11-match Olympic win streak), but they made quick work (72 minutes) of No. 20 winless Tunisia.
The USA now advances to Round of Eight elimination play on Wednesday (Aug. 8), at a time and against an opponent to be determined.
Suxho had 34 assists and 3 blocks in the match.
Suxho, who lettered at USC from 1997 to 2000, was the 2000 National Collegiate Player of the Year. The native of Albania who came to America for college also participated in the 2004 Olympics for the USA.
