Four High Schoolers To Play For USC In 2012|

Four top high school volleyball players--Tyler Cundiff, Ben Lam, Robbie McKnight and Austin Rysyk--will play for the Trojans in 2012, USC head coach Bill Ferguson announced today (May 19).
"We're thrilled to have these players join our program," said Ferguson, who has guided the Trojans to a pair of NCAA Final Four appearances in the past 3 seasons. "They will contribute to our team immediately by adding talented depth and they will be a big part of the future of our program."
Cundiff, a 6-6 middle blocker from Iolani High in Honolulu, Hi., made the 2010 Hawaii State Division I All-Tournament team as a junior as Iolani finished third in the state tourney. He also made the 2010 Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Honolulu Advertiser All-State second team. He participated in the 2009 USA Volleyball Boys International Youth Division High Performance Championships and his team finished second. He was MVP of the 2008 Junior Olympics Boys 15 Club All-Tournament team as his Ku'ikahi team won the Boys Club Gold Division title. He is a National Merit Scholar and USC Presidential Scholar.
Lam, a 6-4 middle blocker from Punahou High in Honolulu, Hi., made the 2011 Hawaii State Division I All-Tournament team as a senior as Punahou was the state runner-up. He was a member of Punahou's state championship team in 2009 and 2010. He made the 2010 Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State team. His Outrigger Canoe Club team placed second in the 2010 Junior Olympics Boys 18 Open Gold Division.
McKnight, a 6-2 setter from Laguna Beach (Calif.) High, has guided his team to the 2011 CIF Division II final while playing opposite hitter as a senior. He made the 2010 All-CIF Division II first team as a junior setter and helped Laguna Beach win the 2010 CIF Division II title.
Rysyk, a 6-7 outside hitter from Bellarmine Prep in San Jose, Calif., helped Bellarmine to its fifth consecutive CIF Central Coast Section Division I championship as a senior in 2011. He made the 2011 All-West Catholic Athletic League first team. As a junior in 2010, he was an All-WCAL honorable mention pick. He made the 2010 Junior Olympics Boys 17 Open All-Tournament team. He led his team to the 2009 USA Volleyball Boys National Youth Division High Performance Championships title and also participated in the 2009 USA Volleyball Boys Youth National Holiday Training Camp. He participated in the 2008 USA Volleyball Boys Select Division High Performance Championships.
These 4 players will join 3 other highly-regarded prep seniors who previously signed letters of intent to play for USC in 2012: Micah Christenson, a 6-5 setter from Kamehameha-Kapalama High in Honolulu, Hi., Cristian Rivera, a 6-6 outside hitter from Colegio San Jose in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and Robert Feathers, a 6-8 middle blocker from Loyola High in Los Angeles.
