No. 8 USC Men's Volleyball Goes To No. 2 UC Irvine For MPSF Semis|
April 28, 2015
The No. 8-ranked USC men's volleyball team (19-8 overall, 15-7 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for fourth place), winner of 8 of its last 9 matches, plays at No. 2 UC Irvine (26-4, 19-3 first) in an MPSF Tournament semifinal match this Thursday (April 30) at 7:30 p.m. in the Bren Center. If the fourth-seeded Trojans, who beat No. 6 BYU in a dramatic 5-set quarterfinal match last week, defeat the top-seeded Anteaters, USC would advance to the Friday (May 1) MPSF final at 7 p.m. in Irvine to play the winner of Thursday's other semifinal match between No. 3 Hawaii (24-5, 18-4, second seed) and No. 5 Pepperdine (23-5, 17-5, third seed). The Trojans have split their 2 meetings in 2015 with each of the other semifinalists. USC has won 8 of the 10 5-set matches it has played in 2015 (both school records). The past 4 USC-UCI meetings have gone 5 sets (the teams have split those).
