The No. 1-ranked USC men's volleyball team (19-2 overall, 18-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) closes out the 2011 regular season with a pair of home matches, hosting crosstown foe No. 8 UCLA (16-12, 9-11) on Thursday (April 14) and then No. 6 UC Santa Barbara (14-12, 11-9) on Saturday (April 16). Both matches start at 7 p.m. USC head coach Bill Ferguson is 7-2 all-time against UCLA. Points in the Crosstown Gauntlet are up for grabs in the Trojan-Bruin match. USC, which has clinched the MPSF regular season title and the top seed in the MPSF Tournament, will host the eighth-seeded Bruins again the following week in the quarterfinals of the MPSF tourney. It will be Senior Night against UC Santa Barbara, with USC's vaunted 8-man senior class saluted. The Gauchos are jockeying for seeding position in the MPSF tourney (they could land from fifth through seventh).
