Blake Tippett and Matt Mosko each had 12 kills to lead the USC men's volleyball team to a 30-27, 30-26, 30-24 win over host UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Jan. 8) in the seventh place game at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational.
It was USC's first win of the season after dropping a pair of earlier-round matches on Friday.
Tippett also had 11 digs, 5 blocks and 2 aces. Freshman Andrew Vernon added 9 kills and 4 blocks for the Trojans.
No. 7-seed USC hit .405 in the match and outblocked the fourth-seeded Gauchos, 10.5 to 3.5.
USC next hosts California this Tuesday (Jan. 11) at 7 p.m in the North Gym before opening Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play next weekend in Northern California.
