No. 12 USC Men's Volleyball Falls to No. 5 Hawai'i, 3-1
LOS ANGELES -- The No. 5 Hawai'i men's volleyball team defeated No. 12 USC, 15-9, 15-11, 13-15, 15-1, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at the North Gym on Friday night in front of 125.
USC fell to 7-5 overall, 1-3 NCAA and 0-2 in the MPSF, while Hawai'i improved to 3-1, 1-0.
Sophomore middle blocker Andre Breuer led the Rainbows with 24 kills and 12 blocks, while freshman swing hitter Jorge Alifonso had 16 kills and seven blocks.
The Trojans were led by senior middle blocker Szilard Kovacs' 20 kills and 11 blocks and freshman outside hitter Eli Fairfield's 17 kills.
Hawai'i hit .277 while USC hit .175 overall.
The Trojans won game three after trailing 9-5 and 11-6. The Rainbows had a 12-0 lead in game four.
USC hosts Hawai'i again on Saturday night (Jan. 24) at 7 p.m.
