The USC men's volleyball team lost a pair of matches to defending Canadian collegiate national champion Trinity Western in Langley, British Columbia, on Nov. 3 and 4 to conclude its non-counting fall exhibition season.
On Friday (Nov. 3), Trinity Western beat the Trojans in 4 games, 25-21, 25-21, 26-28, 25-18. Then on Saturday (Nov. 4), the Spartans overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat USC in 5 games, 21-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-13.
In Saturday's match, sophomore Matt Anderson led USC with 13 kills, while junior C.J. Schellenberg added 12 kills and 8 digs, junior Juan Figueroa had 11 kills and senior Matt Mosko had 8 kills and 5 blocks. Trinity Western outhit USC, .379 to .235, and had more blocks (12.5 to 6.5).
Earlier this fall, USC split a pair of home matches with 2006 NCAA runners-up Penn State, then played in the Long Beach State Fall Classic, where the Trojans lost to UC Santa Barbara, tied Cal Baptist and fell to the host 49ers twice.
USC is now off until beginning its official season on Jan. 5-6 at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational.
